William Robert (Bill) Archie, 81, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on March 6, 2024.
Memorial services will be held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lampasas on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11 am with interment of his urn at Rock Church Cemetery in Rumley following.
Bill was born December 22, 1942, to Kyle Archie and Lounell Jones Archie in San Angelo, Texas. He grew up in Hico, Texas, and enlisted in the US Marine Corps after graduating high school. Following his distinguished service in the US Marine Corps, Bill's insatiable thirst for knowledge led him to Tarleton State University. There, he demonstrated exceptional academic abilities, earning both a bachelor's and a master's degree in Education.
During his time at Tarleton, Bill's life was forever changed when he met and immediately loved Sharon Ports. They were married June, 1968. Their love story spanned over half a century, filled with joy, laughter, and shared adventures, until Sharon's passing.
In 1974, Bill and his family embarked on a new journey, moving to Lampasas, Texas, where Bill taught 4th grade at West Oaks Elementary for over 30 years. Bill was an active member of Saratoga Masonic Lodge # 546, achieving many accolades and high honors. Bill faithfully served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as a member of the First Baptist Church and later worshipping at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Lampasas.
Bill loved his life in Lampasas and lived it to the fullest. Through the years, he participated in the community theatre, supported the Badger Band, and enjoyed working as a greeter at Walmart. Above all, Bill was a wonderful father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kyle and Lounell Archie; his precious granddaughter, Ellah Archie and his beloved wife, Sharon.
He is survived by his son, Andrew Archie, and his wife Karen of Aurora, Colorado; his grandchildren, Karman, Ethan, and Elijah Archie; his daughter, Lou Archie and wife Anita Olinga of Charleston, Virginia; his sisters, Rebekah Ballard of Greenville, Texas and Donita Hoffpauir of Denton, Texas.
