Wilda Louise Mullins

Wilda Louise Mullins, 81 of Lampasas, Texas died Saturday August 25, 2018 at San Gabriel Rehab and Care Center in Round Rock. She was born November 30, 1936 in Mahomet, TX the daughter of James Lester Queen and Ola Ouida (Ming) Queen. Wilda grew up in Cross Plains, TX and graduated from High School there in 1954. She then enrolled in Business College in Abilene. Her work as a bookkeeper and credit manager included working for Dr. Jerry Strader, Paul’s Electric, Lampasas Builder’s Mart and Guyler Company. After retiring from that career, she was a substitute teacher for Lampasas schools. Wilda was very involved in civic matters, where she was charter member of the Town and Country Study Club, charter member of Daughters of Republic of Texas (Lampasas Chapter), served on the Lampasas County Historical Committee, Lampasas County Museum Board. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 3rd graders for 50 years, she later taught a ladies Sunday school class. She was on various church committees as well. Wilda married Joe Trendle Mullins November 29, 1958 in Lampasas. Joe preceded her in death in 2014.   Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Mullins Smith and husband Frank of Round Rock 3 grandchildren; Logan Alexander Smith, Lacey Louise Smith, Landon Joe Smith Brother, Larry Queen and wife Marge Sisters; Linda Cabaniss and Becky O’Hair and husband Jerry Sister-in-law, Elaine Queen Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son Jody, brother Bill Queen and brother-in-law, Lowell Cabaniss.   A funeral service for Mrs. Mullins will be conducted on Saturday September 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family visitation will be Friday August 31, 2018 from 6-8 at Sneed Funeral Chapel.   Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church in Lampasas, Texas.
