Wendy Ann Carlson, a loving mother, wife, sister, daughter, and esteemed special needs teacher/coordinator and retail specialist-apparel, passed away on December 27, 2023. She was born on February 4, 1973. Wendy's warm personality, kind nature, and strong work ethic will always be remembered by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Wendy dedicated her life to making a difference in the lives of children with special needs. She earned a Master's Degree in Special Education as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Therapy from West Virginia University. Her passion for her work shone through every interaction she had with her students, colleagues, and the families she served.
Beyond her professional achievements, Wendy was known for her loving and caring nature. She always prioritized others before herself and delighted in the happiness of those around her. Wendy's unwavering love and devotion to her family were evident in the countless memories they shared together.
Among Wendy's many talents was her exceptional cooking skills. Family gatherings were made even more special by the delicious meals she prepared. Her turkey and New Year potluck dishes were particularly cherished by all who were lucky enough to indulge in them. Wendy upheld tradition with pride and created an atmosphere of warmth that fostered love and joy among family and friends.
Socializing came naturally to Wendy, and she cherished spending quality time with her loved ones. Her vibrant personality lit up every room she entered, bringing laughter and happiness to those around her. Wendy enjoyed engaging in various hobbies such as crocheting, playing puzzle games, Uno, reading and research. She was known for keeping a tidy house and had an eye for interior design.
Wendy also had a deep passion for shopping that brought her great joy. Exploring stores for unique finds or treating herself to something special was one of her favorite pastimes. It was during these moments that Wendy's vivacious spirit and zest for life truly shone.
Wendy leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. She is survived by her beloved husband, Burton Carlson III; their cherished daughter, Joanna Carlson; her father Don Taylor Sr.; her mother, Pam Taylor; and her brother, Don Taylor Jr. Wendy's memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and students whose lives she touched so profoundly.
Visitation services to honor and celebrate Wendy's life will be held at the Copperas Cove Location on January 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial service will follow from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. The address of the Copperas Cove Location is 1614 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, TX 76522.
Wendy Ann Carlson will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Her loving spirit and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire all who knew her.
