Wayne Borchardt

Robert Wayne Borchardt, 77, passed away on July 3, 2024, at his home in Lampasas, Texas.  Wayne was born on September 13, 1946, in Hale County, Texas to Robert and Frances (King) Borchardt.  Wayne married Linda Hoyt in 1973, in Dallas, Texas.  They were happily married for 51 years.

Wayne grew up in Plainview, Texas, and graduated from Plainview High School in 1965.  After high school, he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Range Management.  After graduating from Texas Tech, Wayne began work as a Field Specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture where he worked for two years.  He then worked as a Ranch Manager for Kirby Ranch in Lometa, Texas, and Mobridge, South Dakota for 5 years.  In 1976, he started a banking career in agricultural lending in Plano, Texas.  He continued working in the banking business for almost 30 years, in Lometa, Lampasas, Burnet, Killeen, and Liberty Hill, Texas.

Wayne was a member of the Lometa Lions Club, Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America, the Mountain States Stockdog Association, Lampasas, and Lometa Athletic Booster Clubs.  He enjoyed ranching, hunting, fishing, youth sports, showing livestock, and breeding and competing in Border Collie sheepdog trials.  He received numerous awards for show cattle and sheepdog competitions.  

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Frances Borchardt.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Linda of Lampasas, Texas; his daughter, Joanna (Wayne) Sanders of Cedar Park, Texas; son, Rob (Brandi) Borchardt of Lampasas, Texas and daughter, Jenny (Justin) Honea of Spicewood, Texas; his brother, Henry (Rachel) Borchardt of Chugwater, Wyoming; his sister, Virginia (Dave) Hamilton of Lometa, Texas; his grandchildren, Landon Sanders, Nate Borchardt, Owen Sanders, Ethan Sanders, Addison Borchardt, Ty Borchardt, Jaxon Honea, Taylor Sanders, Kason Honea, Kamden Honea, and Karson Honea as well as his cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel, 201 E Third St, Lampasas, Texas, 76550, at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024, with a visitation an hour prior.  Interment will follow at Senterfitt Cemetery in Lometa, Texas.
