Wanda F. Payne

November 25, 1933 — April 24, 2022

Wanda F. Payne, 88, of Lampasas, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at her residence in Lampasas surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Lometa, TX on November 25, 1933, to K.L. Lindsey and Pearl (Walker) Lindsey.

Services will be private.

Wanda was very active at First United Methodist Church in Lampasas for many years and worked as a volunteer in the nursery.  She also taught Sunday School in New Jersey and in Spain on the Air Force Base while her husband was stationed there.  Wanda loved to cook, was famous for her pinto beans, and enjoyed making food to deliver to the local Fire Department.  Wanda was also a proud volunteer with the American Red Cross and was a member of the Gray Ladies for four years and earned several citations.

She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Rodger E. Payne; sons, Ronald Payne (Emma), Russell Payne (Cheryl), James Payne (Suikey); daughters, April Neely (Wilson), Kathryn Payne; sister, Beatrice Templeton; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Wanda's name to the charity of your choice.
