Wanda Routh Franklin

Wanda Routh Brewster Franklin passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at her home in Lampasas, TX.  She was born on February 22, 1931, in Blanket, TX to Audice Clive Brewster and Romie Lorraine Price Brewster.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Blanket Cemetery at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 25.  The family will be greeting friends and relatives for a luncheon at the Blanket Lions Club following the services.

Wanda grew up in Blanket, TX, and graduated from Blanket High School in 1948 where she played basketball and was involved in numerous school-related activities.  After high school, she married William (Bill) W. Franklin in 1948 in Brownwood, TX.  Prior to starting a family, Wanda was employed by Harlingen National Bank and Brownwood's Bowie Theatre.  In 1952, the first of her three children arrived, and thereafter, she became a homemaker.  She and Bill were happily married for 67 years until his death in 2015.  A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, in recent years Wanda had attended First Presbyterian Church of Lampasas.  Despite being married to an airline executive, she was not fond of traveling.  She enjoyed playing bridge and dominoes, completing crossword puzzles, cooking, and sewing including making Halloween and other costumes for her children and grandchildren.  Wanda enjoyed coffee and was known in the family for making one cup and reheating it all day.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Franklin; son, William W. Franklin, Jr.; brother-in-law, James R. Boyd, and her parents, Clive and Romie Brewster.

Wanda is survived by her son, Gary W. Franklin (Beth) of Lampasas, TX; her daughter, Kristi Franklin Farmer (Scott) of Weatherford, TX; her brother, Charles Brewster (Sylvia) of Boerne, TX; her sister, Nell Boyd of Early, TX; her grandchildren, Danny Farmer (Calli) of Carrollton, TX; Sarah Farmer Burton (Chase) of Bedford, TX; Matthew W. Franklin of Stephenville, TX, and Sarah Franklin of Lometa, TX; great-grandchildren, Eli Farmer, Audrey Farmer, Gracie Farmer, and Will Burton; nieces, Shelley Pemberton (Tommy), Lisa Schultze (Steve), Marla Watson, Mitzi Maynard (Mark); nephews, Brad Brewster (Rosanna), Scott Blake (Sara) and other relatives.
