Virginia Ethelyn Garner, 85, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, California on Monday, December 14, 2020. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas. The daughter of Wilhelm and Ethelyn Andrie Lorenzen, she was born on January 29, 1935, in Hartley, Iowa where she also grew up. After graduating from Hartley High School in 1953, she pursued an airline career with American Airlines in the 50s and 60s working in reservations and as a stewardess. Virginia (Ginny to her friends) met Billy Garner of Lampasas, Texas working at American, and on June 17, 1961, they were married. They lived in cities such as Dallas, Texas, Detroit, Michigan, and Alexandria, Virginia before settling in Miami, Florida where they raised their family. She enjoyed volunteering at her church, bowling, gardening, traveling, and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Wilma and Avis. Survivors include her sons, James Garner of Golden, Colorado, Kelly Garner and wife, Laurel of Los Angeles, California, and their children, Abby and Ryan.
