Varda Lee Scoggins

Varda Lee (Simon, Childers) Scoggins, age 95 of Normangee, TX died December 18, 2018 at home after a long and eventful life. She was born October 21, 1923 in Lampasas, TX the daughter of Edward “Buck” Simon and Beatrice “Bee” (Smart) Simon. Varda worked in bookkeeping for Surety Savings and Loan and finished her work life as church secretary . She had lived mostly in Humble, TX and most recently in Normangee with her family. She loved shopping, watching baseball, playing softball until she exceeded the age limit and attending grandchildren’s sports activities. She was married to O.V. Childers and later met married Curtis Scoggins and lived a full and enjoyable life.                        Survivors are son, David Childers and Elizabeth Ann of Normangee Daughter in law Carolyn (Cissy) Childers Grandchildren; Mickey Childers and Slinda, Jeremy Childers, Heath Childers, Dusty Mcbryde and Zachery Childers. Great-grandchildren; Kaytie, Joshua, Shea, Sammantha, Evie, Darrell, Augustus, Cheyenne, Emaly,Delaney, Hayden, Mason 2 great great-grandchildren Joshue and Maddox and many neices and nephews.     She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Darrell Lynn Childers, sisters; Dottie Shroyer, Mary Smith, Jeffy Furber, by brothers; Tom Simon, Ray Simon, Harvey Simon, Donald Simon, Leo Simon, by a grandson Jake Childers.   A funeral service will be held Saturday December 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be Friday 12/21/2018 from6-8 p.m.. Burial will be in Hillsdale Cemetery near Izoro, TX.   A special thanks to the nurses and care givers of Bristol Hospice
