Thomas Edward Walker

Thomas Edward Walker, 65 of Lampasas, Texas entered into peace April 13, 2019 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple. He was born August 5, 1953 in Austin, Texas to Lewis Conrad and Mary Ruth McCulley Walker. That same year, the family moved south to Monte Alto in the Rio Grande Valley where Lewis began employment with the Texas Soil Conservation Service. That job took the family to various places across south Texas and north to Seymour. In 1959, Lewis and Mary Ruth brought their sons David and Thomas back to the home place on FM 1690, where Lewis farmed and raised sheep and goats and the boys attended Lampasas schools. In 1972, Thomas began a lifetime commitment to service in the military, joining the US Army in the Infantry where he served as an Indirect Fire Infantryman, a unit Supply Specialist, Inventory Clerk and later vehicle mechanic. He rose in rank to become a non-commissioned officer. Thomas was ordered back to active duty with the Army National Guard and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, deploying to both Iraq and Kuwait. He was awarded the Iraq Campaign Medal. He also served in Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley,KS; Hanua Germany, Dallas, Fort Bliss, Brownwood and was discharged at Fort Hood upon retirement after 20 years of service. He is survived by his brother, David C. Walker and wife LaDell of Lampasas Cousin, Jane Williamson of Woodway and many treasured friends he has made.   Visitation is Thursday May 2, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Burial service will be held in the family cemetery on his home place Friday May 3, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with full military honors.   In lieu of flowers, please make gift to Wounded Warriors.
