Sun N. Rios, age 78, of Copperas Cove passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, June 26, 2020, at Scott’s Funeral Home of Copperas Cove with cremation following.
Sun was born on August 15, 1941, in Kimpo-Kun, Kyongki-do, Korea to the late Pyok-Dol Kim and Pong-Cha Kong. She grew up the youngest of six children during the Korean Conflict and was a caretaker of her family. As a young girl, she helped prepare meals for her family. And to the very end, she always made sure her family was always well fed; she took great pride in preparing amazing meals. That was her way of expressing love for her family. Her family will miss her. And also the expression she gave you if you ever said no to her offer a second helping.
Sun had two boys when she met Carlos Rios in 1975, they later married on July 25, 1976, in Seoul, Korea. They had one son together before they moved to the States. Sun supported her husband as he finished out his military career. Many times she had to hold the house together while Carlos was in the field or deployed. Raising three boys and without being fluent in English required great independence, tough love, and a broomstick. In 1992, they settled in Copperas Cove and she enjoyed making her home in Texas. Sun loved her family and was never afraid to share her thoughts with you.
Sun was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
Sun is survived by her husband of 45 years, Carlos Rios; sons, Luis Rios, Manuel Rios, Jose Rios; five grandchildren, Lisa, Emily, Alex, Lina, and Helen Rios.
We will miss you, mom.
