Retired 1SG Stanley Chism, age 70 of Copperas Cove, passed away surrounded by his family on the afternoon of August 1, 2023. A Memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX, with full Military Honors.

Stanley was born on October 3, 1952, in Chicago, IL, to the late Cecil Monroe Chism and Lovina Lucile Hasler. He grew up and attended school in Germany, Ft. Campbell, KY, and Lawton, Ok. Stanley joined the United States Marine Corps in 1970, and met his wife Sharon, who was also in the Navy, stationed at Alameda Naval Air Station. They married on March 6th, 1971.  After ending his tour of service in the United States Marine Corps, Stanley decided to enlist in the United States Army, where he would go on to serve the remainder of his 22-year military career. After Stanley’s retirement from the Army, he continued to serve his country in Civil Service as an Employee for the United States Army. He would collect data from test run on new equipment for the Army for several years until he was no longer able to work.

He was preceded in death by his father CJ Ivy, also a 21-year Army Veteran, his mother Lovina Ivy, biological father Cecil Chism, stepmother, Vivian Chism, a brother, Scott Ivy, and a sister Patricia Chism Watkins.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Chism; daughters Debreah Chism; and Dawn McCumber, a brother, Rex Ivy and sister-in-law Tish Ivy, a sister Teresa Ivy, his grandson Kristopher Chism, a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Chism, multiple cousins, several nieces, and a nephew.
