Copperas Cove

Edward Stewart Bryant, 72, of Copperas Cove, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, in Temple, Texas. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Viss Family Funeral Home, 1614 S. FM 116, Copperas Cove, TX 76522. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service at Viss Family Funeral Home. Edward Stewart Bryant's Funeral Service will be live-streamed on the Viss Family Funeral Home Facebook page.

Edward was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Richmond and Mabel Bryant on June 19, 1949.  He grew up in Newark, and shortly after graduating from high school, in 1968, Edward enlisted in the United States Army.  Soon after, he was stationed in Schwabisch Hall, Germany where he met the love of his life Eveline.  Edward and Eveline were married in May of 1971 in Hanau, Germany.

Edward Bryant served twenty years in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, all while traveling the world.  He was especially proud of his time in the service as a military police officer.  He was awarded an Army Commendation Medal, an Army Achievement Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), an NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Numeral 3 Army Service Ribbon, Number 2 Overseas Service Ribbon, a Driver and Mechanic Badge, Rifle and Pistol Expert Badge, and the Joint Service Achievement Medal.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Copperas Cove VFW Post 8577, including the 40 and 8 and Cooties clubs.  He was the President of the Democrats of Copperas Cove for five years and was a regular and familiar face at the voting booth, assisting veterans and the elderly with exercising their right to vote.

Along with his community work, Edward also enjoyed fishing.  He was the family photographer, life of the party, and resident father, grandfather, and “Uncle Ed” to many.  He was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.

Edward Bryant is preceded in death by his father Richmond Bryant, mother-in-law Margarete Mueller, sister-in-law Cherry Hartfuss, mother Mabel Bryant, brother in law Achim Buchmaier, granddaughter Sabrina Bryant, sister Rosalind Fowlkes, and brother in law Robert Watson.

Edward is survived by his wife Eveline Bryant of Copperas Cove Texas; his children Thomas Alexander Bryant of Alexandria Virginia, Edward Richmond Bryant of Palestine Texas, and Zerena Chantel Thompson of Copperas Cove Texas; his sister Amelia Watson of Willingboro New Jersey; his grandchildren Tionna Bryant, Thomas Bryant, Jaylin Thompson, and Sirion Bryant; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
