Shirley A. Beyer, 80, passed away on Sunday, July 28, at her home in Lampasas, Texas.  She was born on March 2, 1944, in Quincy, Illinois to Clarence and Edith (Bangert) Lawber.

Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel Lampasas on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 11 am with a visitation an hour prior.  Burial at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery will be private. 

Shirley grew up in Quincy, IL.  She graduated from Quincy High School in 1962.  After high school, she joined the US Air Force in 1962 and served for over 2 years.  She was discharged in 1965, achieving the rank of Airman 2nd Class.  During her lifetime she traveled to exotic locations as a military spouse, including Washington DC, Oslo Norway, and finally, Millstadt, IL.  She attended Belleville Area College in Belleville, IL where she received an associate degree in Accounting.  She worked many years in various bookkeeping and accounting jobs before working for Defense Finance and Accounting Service as a Payroll Specialist until she retired in 1999.  

She was involved in numerous clubs such as Killeen Kickers Square Dance, Herb Society, Lampasas Extension, Lampasas Senior Center Quilters, Lometa Quilters, Texas First Conservative Alliance, and Women on Misson.

Shirley married Albin in 1964 in Quincy, IL.  She was a member of Hill Country Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed square dancing, quilting, and cross-stitching.  She also received many ribbons for her quilts, wall-hangings, cross-stitch, and pickles at the Lampasas County Fair during Spring Ho.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Albin, and her parents, Clarence and Edith.

Shirley is survived by her son, Tony (Gabrielle) Beyer of Dayton, OH; her daughter, Angie Beyer of Maryville, IL; her sister, Patricia Lawber of Quincy, IL; her grandchildren, Miguel (Joanna) Beyer, AJ (Megan) Petrowich, Sarah (Kyle) Butts, Clay Allen; her great-grandchildren, Eisley, Kip, Rowan, Brooklynn, Emerson, Simon, Easton and her many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was beloved for her warm smile, kind spirit and willingness to get involved.  Shirley will be missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hill Country Church (PCA), 604 Trout Cove, Killeen, TX, 76542.
