Mark Edward Peterson, age 62, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at his home in Copperas Cove. Graveside Services will be held at 9:00 am, Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 West Avenue F, in Copperas Cove.

Mark was born on January 27, 1957 in Meadville, PA to the late James and Nancy Ketcham Peterson. He graduated from high school and joined the Army.  He met and married Laura Ide while stationed at Fort Hood in 1980. He served in many roles and retired as Sergeant Major after 30 years of service.  Throughout the years, he was proud to be able to open his home to foster children in need.

After his military retirement, Mark earned his Associate’s Degree and Realtor license. He was elected to the city council and served on many city, district, and state boards.  He volunteered in many areas, including CCISD, the Exchange Club (at local and district levels), AUSA, Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce, and Meals on Wheels.

Mark enjoyed playing golf, being with friends, watching sports, traveling and, most of all, being with his family.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and Laura's parents, Harry and Beverly Ide.

Mark is survived by his wife of 39 years, Laura Ide Peterson; daughters, Jessica Bredwell and her family, Juan Maldonado and Emily and Sarah Lezo and her family, Michael Rousell, Camryn, Jackson, Landon, and Aubrey; brother, Allen and his wife, Gloria; brother, Rick Peterson and his wife, Roberta; and brother Tim Peterson and his wife, Mary.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
