Barry G. Davidson, age 73, of Copperas Cove passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Killeen. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Scott's Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
Barry was born on August 22, 1943 in Chardon, Ohio to the late George and Jennie Cottrell Davidson. Barry graduated from Chardon High School in 1960. After High School, he attended the University of Ohio for a year before joining the United States Army in 1962. While serving in Germany, he met the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Ingrid Hahmann at a dance. They married on March 6, 1964 in Germany and in 1965 they returned to the states. Barry served during the Vietnam Era and supported aviation during the conflict. He served for 21 years before retiring in 1982 receiving multiple service awards including the Air Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. After he retired from the Army, he worked for several years for the Texas Department of Corrections and Capital Metro in Austin for 15 years. Barry volunteered his time serving the USO on Fort Hood and with the Cove House. Barry was also a proud 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a Master Mason and received his 25 year Masonic Service Award. Barry loved God, his family and his country.
Barry is survived by his wife, Ingrid Davidson; daughters, Andrea Spiers and husband, Bradley, Jackline Chance and husband, Bradley; four grandchildren, Sheena McDonald and husband, Brian, Blake Spiers, Trey Chance, Evan Chance; two great grandchildren, Jonah and Brooklyn; special friends, Fred and Debra Picknell and a host of extended family and friends.
