Ruth Inez (Kuykendoll) Rutledge, age 91, was met on September 24, 2017 by her beloved husband, Ira Lee, at the pearly gates of heaven. Ruth was born on March 14, 1926 to Alvie Benjamin Kuykendoll and Ollie Myrtle (Bowden) Kuykendoll in the Littlefield Community, Izoro, Texas. She attended Littlefield School until it closed then was transferred to Lampasas where she graduated. On March 12, 1943, just two days before her 17th birthday, she married the love of her life, Ira Lee Rutledge while he was home on a three day furlough from WWII. She spent the next two years with Ira Lee’s parents waiting for him to return home. After the war, the couple lived in several places before settling in Lake Victor, Texas. Ruth was an accomplished homemaker. She was a wonderful cook for her family and enjoyed watching them eat. Family and friends especially enjoyed her “light bread.” She was a dedicated wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing western shirts for her sons as they grew up. Ruth also helped her husband with all the farm and ranch work. Ruth was a 50 plus year member of the Lake Victor E.E. Club. Last but not least, the true apple of her eye was her grandchildren. She loved being their “Grandmaw.” “Go rest high on that mountain, Ruth, because your work here on earth is through.” You and Ira Lee are together again. Ruth is survived by two sons and their wives; Larry and Nancy Rutledge of Kempner, and Cody and Beverly Rutledge of Lake Victor; two grandsons, Kyle Rutledge and Logan Rutledge; two granddaughters and their husbands, Christina and Craig Shuffield, and Deandra and Brian Kroger; great grandchildren; Loren Shuffield, Reed Shuffield, Cole Shuffield, Kylee Rutledge, Saige Kroger and Alexa Kroger, and nieces and nephew, Dorothy Braddock, Nelda Maynard, and Johnny Kuykendoll.
