Rosa Deck Conkling, age 92 of Copperas Cove, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016 in Luling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Ebner officiating. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
Mrs. Conkling was born on Nov. 8, 1924 in Bainetz, Romania to the late Rudolph and Regina Gunther Helm. She married Woodrow Deck in 1946. They moved to Copperas Cove 1958, he preceded her in death in 1983. She later married Donald Conkling in 1986 and he preceded her in death in 2013. She was an early member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She volunteered for many years for Copperas Cove Friends of the Library as well as being very active with her husband Don, in the Knights of Columbus activities. Throughout the years she worked at Cove Lanes, where she was famous for her hamburgers and Winn's Variety Store. She also volunteered countless hours at the Thrift Shop at Ft. Hood.
She was also was preceded in death by two daughters, JoAnne Stewart and Rosemarie Garrison.
She is survived by her daughtgers, Gladys Cummings and husband, Mike of Caldwell, Violet Odom of Seguin; son, Mickey Deck and wife, Cheryl of Georgetown; sister, Adolfina Christa of Halstadt, Germany; seven grandchildren, Doyle VanWinkle, Michelle Cochran, Laura Bolt, Ronnie Odom, Jason Holder, Tristine Range and Peggy Garrison; and seven great-grandchildren.

Rosa’s family would like to thank her caregivers at Heart to Heart Hospice and the staff at Magnolia Living and Rehabilitation Center in Luling.
