Regina Louise Floyd passed peacefully in her sleep on the 19 of September, 2024, in Kempner, Texas. Born on the 6th of August, 1947, in Ashland, Ohio, Regina’s journey was one marked by resilience, strength, and an abundance of love.
In her early years, Regina took on various roles as a single mother, working tirelessly to provide for her daughters. From waiting tables to tending bar, and from grocery stores to warehouses and offices, her determination was unyielding. It was in the early 80s, after relocating to Texas, that she started her career at Texas Instruments. There, through hard work and diligence, she rose from parts inspector to executive assistant, eventually retiring in 2005. Regina's career not only exemplified her work ethic but also set a powerful example of perseverance for her family.
To her loved ones, Regina was not just a mother but a radiant force of nature. With a personality that was both candid and generous, she spoke her mind but loved fiercely and wholeheartedly. Her infectious laughter and beautiful smile brightened countless moments. Regina had a unique ability to connect with others, often welcomed into her life a multitude of "adopted" family members, earning the endearing titles of “Mom” and “Nana” to many.
Regina was famous for her cornbread dressing, a dish that became a cherished holiday tradition. She had an infinite love for reading and crocheting, hobbies that occupied her downtime, stitching together not just yarn but also the very fabric of her family’s memories. A lover of classic Country Music, her heart would sway to the old tunes, and her evenings were often spent immersed in the nostalgia of western classics on television, with shows like Gunsmoke, Rawhide, anything John Wayne capturing her attention. She loved country dancing and met the love of her life, Charles Floyd, at a honky tonk, the Hitching Post, where I'm sure they are dancing across heaven again forever more.
Regina leaves behind a tapestry of love woven into the lives of her beloved family. She is survived by her daughters; Frances Casanova and her husband Nando, Shelly Landreth and her husband David, Melissa Haney and her husband Steve, and Jennifer Irvine, stepson Butch Floyd, her brother John Ray and sister-in-law Aloma Ray; and a remarkable lineage of grandchildren: Andrew Webb, Sam Webb (and Julie Holland-Webb), Steven Arbuckle, Brian Arbuckle (and Brittney Arbuckle), Katherine Dolson (and Bryan Dolson), Brittany Casanova, Lauren Avery Haney, Jeremy Irvine, Adam Irvine, Kassie Floyd, Jeremy Floyd, and Corey Floyd, . Each of her grandchildren, along with numerous great-grandchildren, carried the love of their Nana in their hearts, a testament to the indelible mark she made in their lives.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Ray and Catherine Ray, and her beloved husband, Charles Floyd, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms into eternity.
As we gather to honor Regina's memory, let us hold close the laughter, wisdom, and love she shared so generously. Visitation will take place on September 25, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Copperas Cove Location, 1614 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, TX 76522. There will be a gathering for remembrance after the service. In her spirit, may we continue to weave her legacy of love and strength into our own lives.
