Randall Walter Dubbel

June 2, 1939 — September 12, 2020

Randall Walter Dubbel, 81, of Kempner passed away on September 12, 2020, in Lampasas, Texas. He was born on June 2, 1939, in Stanton, Nebraska to Walter and Beulah Taylor Dubbel. Randall grew up in Stanton, Nebraska and graduated from Stanton High School in 1957. He attended Wayne State Teacher's College until he enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 21, 1961. He served in the Vietnam War and proudly served his nation for 30 years, 2 months, and 9 days. He met the love of his life, Hannelore Gebhardt while stationed in Germany. They were married on September 12, 1964, in Augsburg, Germany. It is fitting that he passed away on what would have been their 56th wedding anniversary. They were happily married for 39 years and had one daughter, Michelle and one granddaughter, Rylie. The military life took them to Kansas, California, Germany, and to Ft. Hood, Texas. Randall proudly completed his bachelor's degree from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in 1980. They moved from Killeen, Texas to Kempner, Texas in 1982 where they enjoyed living the country lifestyle. He retired on November 30, 1991. Randall played football in high school, college, and with the 24th Division Lions team in the Army. He also boxed with the Golden Gloves while stationed in Germany. He was a big Nebraska Cornhusker fan and faithfully cheered on the team each season. He will be greatly missed for his gentleness, kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Randall was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hannelore, and sister, Lois Dunn. Survivors include his daughter, Michelle (Lewis) Snell and granddaughter, Rylie Snell of Waco, Texas; niece, Merrily Dunn of Athens, Georgia, and brother in law, Kurt Gebhardt of Gersthofen, Germany. A private memorial service will be held at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Lampasas Assisted Living and Interim Healthcare Hospice.
