Patty Williams

September 10, 1946 — October 12, 2016

Patty (Peterson Deparini Hebért) Williams, age 70, left her earthly body on October 12, 2016 to join her family members in Heaven. A Graveside Memorial will be on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. Following the service her cremains will be placed in the columbarium.

Patty was born on September 10, 1946 in Seattle, Washington to the late Walter and Barbara Lee Peterson. Since her father was in the navy, Patty and her family traveled around the country during her younger days until settling on the island of Oahu, Hawaii where her father retired from military service.

When she was young, her family lived in Nanakuli, Hawaii and took numerous picnics on the beach where they enjoyed shell hunting by Robber’s Cave, pushing large pieces of driftwood back into the ocean, exploring Makua cave, and making sand castles.

Patty graduated from Waianae High School in 1964 and studied at a Beauty School where her talents were used for many family occasions, including styling hair for her sisters’ weddings, providing home perms for her family and friends, and numerous haircuts. She loved playing the card game “Hell” with the family, swimming in the pool on warm tropical days and chowing down on great Hawaiian food at Luaus. She was a good seamstress, but one of her funny stories that she liked to tell was about the day she sent her young son (Derec) to school in a shirt that she had made, but the stitching was so tight that the seams became perforated and the shirt came apart before he got home from school. She always laughed about that but was more careful with her stitches after that.

Patty enjoyed summer days on Waikiki beach watching Hari Krishna parades, playing frisbee and other games with the family, and enjoying the ocean waves. She was a devoted mother and a great cook. Her salty rice balls with ume were to die for!

As a young girl, she was known as Patty Joy, but when she got older, she became Pat. In her adult years,

Pat lived on Kauai and Maui and was well known and respected in those communities. She was employed as a bookkeeper and was appreciated by her bosses and clients. She even continued to do work for clients long after she retired because they trusted her work and knew she would keep them out of trouble. Her family members appreciated her handling their taxes every year, especially since that was her busy season.

Everyone knew Pat as an amazing wife, mother, sister, and friend. She had a great sense of humor and a great laugh. She kept in contact with her best friend from high school (Yolanda) all through the years and up until the day she had surgery.

Pat devoted her later years to serving others, which included teaching women in prison, writing letters to inmates, and spreading the gospel. Many people were inspired by her message, her calm demeanor, and her wonderful devotion to serving others. She has been an inspiration to many and will be missed by all who knew her. Pat would not want you to weep for her, but instead be joyful in the fact that there is no more pain or sorrow  as she walks hand in hand with her savior Jesus Christ.

Patty was preceded in death by her daughter Rochelle Hebért and her daughter-in-law Christine Deparini, as well as her mother, Barbara Lee, and father, Walter Grant Peterson.

She left behind her husband, Allwyn Williams; two sons, Derec Deparini, Joseph Hebért and wife, Sabrina; her two sisters, Cindy Moxley and husband, Neil, Momi Paschal; three brothers, Ricky Peterson and wife, Aura, David Peterson, and Kaleo Peterson; along with three nieces; three nephews; and three grandchildren. She also leaves behind her three step-children, Adam H. Bassette, Allwyn P. Williams II, and Yonella K. Williams.
