Patsie Ruth Clepper was born to Claudie and May Smith on May 24, 1934 in Alma, Arkansas, the oldest of 4 children. She passed after a determined fight with cancer on January 27, 2018. She married a young G.I. Len Clepper and traveled to Japan and Germany where they were stationed, and then to Ft. Hood in Texas. It was at this time they became acquainted with Raymond (Polly) and Mary Powell of Lampasas, as well as Don Peak and Billy Peak. They became like one family, with the Powells becoming godparents to their 3 children, Mike, Larry and Lisa. She was a well-respected medical transcriptionist in her first career. The Cleppers were then stationed in San Antonio until Len Retired. Patsie married Warren Scott in 1980 and they lived in San Antonio, Georgia, Killeen and finally in Lampasas where she helped care for Raymond in his last years. She happily visited S. Korea for a visit while Warren was stationed there. Patsie’s favorite hobby her entire life was gardening (but there was also fishing and camping). She was able to get any plant to grow and enjoyed sharing starts of many plant with her friends. She collected plants wherever she traveled and loved the challenge of getting them to grow in this Texas climate. She took floral arranging courses which led to her becoming a team member at Jones Florist for many years. She focused her gardening hobby on tropical flowering plants--and if you were ever visiting their home you certainly got a tour to see what was currently in bloom. Her 4th child was her mini dachshund Molly, who was pampered and loved and deeply missed after her passing. She continued to travel throughout her life including Maine, Australia, Hawaii, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington and completely across the USA a few times--many places where her daughter and husband were living or vacationing. Patsie was an active member and generous volunteer at First Baptist Church. She also was a member of the Rumley Club, where she was the treasurer for almost 10 years and the host of the annual garage sale. She was a frequent ribbon winner in the local county fair showing her beautiful plants, baked goods, and canned foods. She became a great grandmother (“Nana Pat”) in recent years. She was predeceased by her first husband Len Clepper and by two of her brothers. Her eldest son Michael passed after a short illness in June which left her broken-hearted. She is survived by her husband Warren Scott; Michael’s wife Tammy Brown of Houston, Texas; Michael’s children Lauren Clepper of Houston, Texas, and Sean Clepper of Kingwood, Texas (his wife Ashley and their boys, Hayden and Andrew); son Larry, (wife Bonnie and their children Lindsey and Laura); and daughter Lisa Clepper (husband David Clugston) of Lyle, Washington. Patsie leaves behind her family and many close friends and will be missed terribly but remembered very fondly. Cremation and support services are being provided by Sneed’s Funeral Chapel. This announcement will be available to be seen at http://www.sneedfuneralchapel.com/. Please feel free to leave comments there for the family. A public memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Lampasas on Feb 6th at 11am and the family welcomes you to come. Brother Rick Willis will be officiating.
