Patricia Cortright, lovingly known as Pat, was born on April 8, 1957, in Leland, Mississippi, to Bud and Lizzie Fordham, who instilled in her a strong sense of family and faith. Patricia's life was defined by her unwavering dedication as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, and devout Jehovah's Witness. She passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2023, in Copperas Cove, Texas.
Throughout her life, Patricia embodied the principles of her faith. She approached every day with an open heart and a genuine desire to share love and understanding with those around her. Her commitment to learning and growing in her spirituality was evident through her active participation in field service and bible study. Patricia's steadfast devotion to Jehovah allowed her to touch the lives of many and provided comfort and solace to those seeking guidance.
Her vibrant personality radiated warmth and positivity. Her contagious smile had the power to brighten anyone's day, while her words of encouragement lifted spirits. She had an astonishing ability to serve as the best hype woman one could ever hope for. Throughout her life, she traveled extensively, opening countless minds to the wonders of the world, and encouraging others to venture out and explore. Her adventurous spirit inspired others to step out of their comfort zones and explore the world around them.
Patricia had an uncanny ability to find joy in the simplest of daily activities. Her unique personality was a constant source of bliss, and her infectious laughter is etched in the memories of all who knew her. Patricia's proudest accomplishments were characterized by her determination to give her all, no matter the task at hand. She poured love and creativity into numerous children's stories that imparted valuable life lessons and often incorporated aspects of those she loved. Patricia's fearless independence was coupled with sensitivity and an unwavering compassion that touched countless lives.
She was married to her lifelong love, Blaine Cortright on October 15, 1975. They spent 48 incredible years together married, over 50 years all told, traversing the globe, sharing with those around them what the promise of love, understanding and togetherness truly means. Their relationship is a roadmap for anyone who sees it on how to be successful in a partnership, always and forever.
Patricia's greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished her immense happiness in their company. With a large and loving family like hers, there was never a shortage of heartwarming stories to be shared. Watching everyone grow up and embark on their own journeys brought Patricia immense pride and joy. She celebrated the accomplishments of each family member with overflowing love and support. And let us not forget the unlimited supply of sass that brought laughter to so many hearts.
In addition to being an incredible wife and mother, Patricia also contributed to supporting military families alongside her dedicated husband, Blaine. Throughout their 40 years together in military life, Patricia stood by Blaine's side with unwavering commitment and loyalty. Her sacrifice and understanding were unfathomable as they endured countless deployments together. Patricia's strength served as an inspiration not only for her own family but also for other military families facing similar challenges.
Her career was marked by resilience and excellence. She held challenging positions in various banks, from Trainer to Lead, paving the way for more strategic and efficient organizations. Her dedication and hard work had a positive impact on those around her. With each endeavor she embarked upon, Patricia gave nothing short of her best. Her tenacity and dedication knew no bounds, always ready to give 110% and encourage others to do the same.
Patricia will forever be cherished by those who loved her dearly. She is survived by her devoted husband, Blaine Cortright; her son, Anthony (Taryn) Cortright and daughter Trisha (Dustin) Cortright. Her presence will be greatly missed by her brothers Bud (Margie) Fordham, Joseph (Diana) Fordham, L.C. (Mae McCloud) Fordham, and Lucky Jenkins, along with her sisters Georgia Broadnax, Willie Ann Fordham, Wadean (Kelvin) Booker, Margaret Cortright, Allie Bea Baker, and Gwen Lee. Her spirit lives on through her beloved grandchildren, TJ (Aleena) Cortright, Kayli (Zach) Cortright-Monette, Patrick Cortright, Liz Cortright, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Patricia Cortright was preceded in death by her brothers: Henry Earl Westerfield, Manuel Fordham, Larry Broadnax, George Cortright, and Ronald Williams.
The Celebration of Life to honor will take place November 13, 2023 at the Copperas Cove location at the Sneed Carnley Funeral Home at 1614 S FM 116 in Copperas Cove, Texas, starting at 12:00 PM. The graveside service will be at Central Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery at 11463 TX-195 in Killeen, Texas, beginning at 2:00 PM. These services provide an opportunity for family and friends to pay their respects while remembering the beautiful soul that touched each of our lives.
Patricia Cortright leaves a legacy of love, faithfulness, adventure, and compassion. Family meant everything to her. Her indelible mark on the next generation was a constant source of pride for her. She celebrated every accomplishment with genuine enthusiasm. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire us. In honoring Patricia, let us carry forward her thirst for life, her unwavering faith, and her belief in the power of family and love.
