Pamela Lynn Munn

Pamela Lynn Munn passed away on January 9, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. At the time of her passing she was resting peacefully in her home, surrounded by her husband, son and family and friends. Pam was born on September 17, 1956 in Newport News, VA. The family later moved to Houston so her father could work on the Gemini and Apollo space missions. She attended Stephen F. Austin High School, graduating in1975. Pam received her degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in 1979. Upon graduating Pam was hired to become the first female police officer at the Huntsville Police Department. This would be the beginning of a 35 year career in law enforcement for the City of Huntsville and State of Texas. She began her career with HPD as a patrol officer, was promoted to detective and ended up as sergeant. She left Huntsville in September 1985 to take a job as an investigator with the Texas Attorney General’s Office in Austin. Pam worked as an investigator for the OAG’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, eventually earning a promotion to Supervising Investigator. She left the OAG in 1997 to transfer the Texas State Auditor’s Office which was forming a Special Investigations Unit to investigate financial crimes against the State. Pam eventually became the Special Investigations Unit Manager until her retirement in 2015. Her professional certifications included Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Fraud Specialist. While working for the OAG Pam met her soon-to-be husband, Chris. They were married in November 1986 and welcomed their son, John Jefferson Christian, into the world on January 31, 1991. Pam and Chris also adopted two girls, Cassandra and Amber, into their home in 1999. Pam loved fishing, gardening, spending time with her pets and the abundant wildlife surrounding her Lampasas home. She was a member of the local women’s bowling league and enjoyed her nights bowling on the “Alley Cats” team. She was active and involved in the First United Methodist Church and loved working with their children’s program as well as other committees. She would volunteer her time to the local library fund raisers and she also found time to work with the local election’s office.Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Nedra Ferrall, her adoptive parents, Edgar “ Jack” and Mildred “Billie” Page as well as her brother, Ron Page. She is survived by her husband Chris, son Jefferson, daughters Cassandra and Amber, brother Rick Page and wife Cheryl, sisters Page Bergland and her husband Brad and Dusty Burkhart and her husband Tim. She leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Pam also leaves her best friend Bella Alex, who has loved and supported her since Jr. High.Visitation will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Sunday, January 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Lampasas at 10:00 am on Monday, January 14th, followed by a graveside service at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. The family wishes to thank her oncologists, Dr. Vivian Cline and Dr. R. Declan Fleming as well as her good friends at Texas Oncology: Cynthia, Thomas and Joy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, the Humane Society or the ASPCA.
