Olen M. Thompson, age 74, of Copperas Cove passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 PM on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Scott's Funeral Home of Copperas Cove with burial following with full military honors at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be on Sunday at the funeral home from 4-6 PM.
Olen was born on May 31, 1940 in Lunenburg, VA to the late Olen and Thelma Graham Thompson. In 1959 he joined the United States Army and served for over 20 years. After retirement, he worked as an inspector on Fort Hood for 8 years. Olen married Harlynn Roberts on September 14, 1974. He loved to cook, play his guitar and loved his family. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.
Olen is preceded in death by his parents; son, Maurice Miller; sisters, Mary Graham, Sally Clinebell, and Catherine Gilliam
Olen is survived by his wife, Harlynn Thompson; sons, Robert Summers, Thomas Miller; daughters, Cathy Yost, Janice Thompson, Angie Thompson; brothers, Van Thompson, Frank Thompson; sisters, Virginia Irvin, Thelma Sue Haynes; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
