Nolan O. Machen

February 25, 1923 — December 21, 2018

Nolan Machen, 95, of Lampasas, Texas passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018. Nolan is survived by his daughter, Lori Paulson (Jerry), daughter-in-law, Janet Machen; as well as 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Nolan was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Eva Jo; as well as 2 sons (Neil & Nelson). Nolan lived in Lampasas his entire life, except for the years he proudly volunteered for and served in World War II in the Army Air Corp – now called the U.S. Air Force. Nolan retired from the Texas Highway Department Resident Engineer’s Office after 42 years of service. He supervised the construction of many of the highways & bridges in Lampasas & surrounding counties. After his retirement, he supervised construction of a number of area airports. Nolan was a kind, loving, generous man who enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, woodworking, gardening, masonry, caring for his pecan trees, fishing and most of all – family gatherings. Funeral services will be held at First Street Church of Christ (201 W. First, Lampasas, TX) on Thursday, December 27 at 2:00, followed by a brief graveside service at Nix Cemetery (Nix, Texas). In lieu of flowers, Nolan would have liked for donations to be made to the Nix Community Center or charity of your choice. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of Spring Oaks Rehabilitation Center, Family Medicine Clinic and Nolan’s faithful caregiver, Deborah Jones.
