Mary Kocian, age 81, of Lampasas passed away on January 3, 2013 in a Temple hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove with burial following at Central Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Killeen. A Rosary will be held at 4:00PM on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Scott's Funeral Home of Copperas Cove followed by visitation until 6:00 PM.
Mary was born on July 31, 1931 in Santa Rosa, Texas to the late Merced and Petra Hinejosa. She attended school in Santa Rosa and was raised on a farm. As a young lady she moved to Dallas where she met Zefrin Kocian and they married in January of 1958. Zefrin was in the US Army and together they moved all over the United States and to Germany twice during his 20 years of service. After the service, they moved to LaFeria and later to Georgetown and she began working at TI where she retired after 20 years. They moved to Lampasas in 1986 and became active in St. Mary's Catholic Church. She loved to volunteer at the church and also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. In her later years, she became active in Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove.
Mary is survived by her husband, Zefrin Kocian; children, Lawrence Kocian and wife Ruth, Zefrin J. Kocian, Cedric Kocian and wife Martha, Rowena Maas and husband Bill, Veronica Creek, Merida Frank and husband Lance, Yolanda Turk and husband Rob; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
