I, Mary Ruth Tomblin was born on November 30, 1933 to Tommy and Sadie Tomblin in the oil fields of Webb County, Texas. Before turning 6, I started school in Cayote, TX, moved to Bigfoot for middle school and graduated from Divine High School in 1950. While at Divine HS I was drum major in band and Queen of Strawberry Festival in Poteet, due to the hard work of the Divine FFA boys who sponsored me. I was the only girl in Divine High School that could drive a tractor, ( a real qualification). I worked at Lackland AFB after I graduated high school and was in charge of the unit responsible for investigating and granting top secret clearances for the Air Force throughout the world after WWII. While at Lackland, Bob Sutton and I were married, and Tom, Phil and Susan Sutton were welcomed into our family. What a trip----getting 3 great kids through school and college and into the world of hard work. After the 3 had completed all their schooling, I started my college career at age 42 at Central Texas College near Ft. Hood and graduated with honors. Then I became the office manager of the 30,000 acre Goodrich Ranch in Burnet County, Texas for 20 years—becoming, among other things proficient in holistic ranch operations, which I later carried to the Henry Ranch in Mills County, Texas. Dale Henry and I were married July 21, 2002. I had a love for adventure and qualified for my private pilot’s license at age 34. Traveling the world was exciting and then----A life long constant eye problem struck a final blow. The cornea in each eye had to be replaced and prescribed eye drops to facilitate the new cornea attachment to my eyeballs, resulted in the loss of the use of the mind’s ability to let me talk and walk. After years of being unable to talk and walk, I now have embarked on “My Joyous Journey” to be with my Lord God Almighty and His Son Jesus Christ. I spent a lifetime worshipping and honoring God and Jesus. It’s been a great journey while on this earth… I will miss everyone. Love, Mimi Funeral service was held Wednesday November 13, 2019 at 2:00 at Pompey Mountain Church in Mills County.
