Martha Elizabeth (Groves) Tumlinson, 90 of Lampasas, Texas died Wednesday February 14, 2018 at Lampasas Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born July 28, 1927 in Lampasas County, Texas to William Chesterfield Groves and Lula Belle (Roye) Groves. She was baptized August 1935 in the Lampasas River, near School Creek. Martha lived in Fort Worth, TX during WWII, due to her Father working there. She later lived in Bay City and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1944. Martha married Forrest Woodrow Tumlinson July 3, 1948 in Lampasas. She worked for the Goodrich Ranch for 25 years as their bookkeeper and secretary, all while being a homemaker too. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school to children. She was part of the Ruth Class. Martha was Cub Scout Den mother, a member of the Garden Club and local Bridge Clubs. She enjoyed being a part of Triple L and playing dominoes. She enjoyed traveling to golf tournaments and all types of ball games with Woody and Joe. She is survived by her son, Joe G. Tumlinson Sister-in-law, Mary Groves Nieces; Charlotte McMillan and Phillip, Shirley Stringer and Larry, Martha Casbeer and Tom. Numerous great nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, by husband Woodrow Tumlinson, by her brother, Billy Groves, by 2 nephews; Grady Groves and Charles Tumlinson. Funeral service will be Saturday February 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Tumlinson Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice.
