Martha Ann O'Keefe Lamond, age 86 of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Martha was born on November 26, 1938, to Thomas Merton McCormick and Nelda Faye Watson McCormick in Lampasas, Texas. She attended Lampasas Public Schools. Martha was a majorette in the high school marching band, member of the LTP booster club and the Jr. Pierian Club. She was a charter member of the Town and Study Club in Lampasas, TX. Three days after graduation she enrolled at Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, TX where she pledged Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
Martha married her beloved childhood sweetheart, Timothy Robert O'Keefe, a dashing young Naval Officer. She was a devoted supporter of her husbands' naval career, moving 28 times in over 30 years, including duty stations in Hawaii, and at the American Embassy in Australia. While raising three daughters, she found time to be active in the Officer's Wives Club and was the Navy wives' representative when Capt. O'Keefe attended the National War College in Washington D.C. She enjoyed hosting parties in Washington D.C. and the numerous places where they lived.
Upon Capt. O'Keefe's retirement from active duty in the Navy, Texas Governor Clements presented Martha with the Yellow Rose of Texas Award for her contributions to her country.
Martha had an active career that spanned over 44 years in Real Estate. She was a real estate broker and a certified commercial builder. At Town and Country Properties, Martha oversaw the New Homes Division in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. In Northern Virginia, Martha was Vice President at Wills Commercial Builders. She was awarded the "SPIKE" award from the Northern Virginia Home Builder Association and received the MIRM Certification Award.
Martha and Tim relocated from Washington D.C. to Alpharetta, GA in 2001. A year later Capt. O'Keefe passed away, after a 44-year loving, and fun-filled marriage.
Martha participated in many civic activities, as a past President of the Roswell Historic Society, a member of the Roswell Historical Preservation Board, and on the Board of Smith Plantation. She was a life member of the Roswell Women's Club.
Happiness came again when she married Dr. Trevor Lamond from England. They enjoyed many traveling trips to Europe. They had been married for 19 years. Martha and Trevor were members of Marietta First United Methodist Church and the John Strathers Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nelda McCormick, and her late husband, Capt. Timothy O'Keefe. Martha is survived by her husband, Dr. Trevor Lamond; her daughters, Elise (Dan) Humphrey, Susan (Bill) Creeden, Leah (Dee) Anderson, and Shona Lamond; seven grandchildren, Chris (Geraldine) Humphrey, Leah (Mike) Columbus, Brad (Francine) Creeden, Mike (Zoey) Creeden, Billy (Sydney) Creeden, Kaitlyn (Nate) Ebenshade, Carter Anderson, and twelve great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 am, at the First United Methodist Church Marietta, 56 Whitlock Ave NW, Marietta, GA 30064. The church will livestream the service for those unable to attend in person. A private burial will be held at the Watson Family Cemetery, in Watson, Texas.
