Marsha Kay Norris, 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 11, 2025. Born in Mishawaka, IN, on April 18, 1953, Marsha was known for her practicality and sense of humor, which she maintained throughout her battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel Lampasas on Friday, March 21, at 2 pm.
Marsha's childhood was spent on a small farm outside of South Bend, Indiana. Her adventures began with a semester abroad with the University of Evansville at Harlaxton Manor in Grantham, England, where she met Frank, her husband. Her quiet faith guided her as the two of them built a family around his eighteen-year Army career. She passed the love of art, music, and culture on to her children, making the most of any military assignment. Her warm authenticity made everyone, from dukes to privates, children to elderly, feel seen and welcome.
For the last thirty years, Marsha has called Lampasas home. In that time, she worked as a carhop at Storm's Burgers, where she brought smiles as well as fries. Though in later years she continued to travel to Scotland to visit family, her heart remained in Central Texas. Her farming roots were always evident in her love for all animals- from affectionate grumbling at the resident armadillo to her fondness for birds of all kinds. She was never without a faithful canine companion.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; her children, Matthew (Jamie) and Kirsti (Michael); her brothers, Bill, Jerry (Marilee), and Brian (Jane); and five beloved grandchildren, Andrew (Makenzee), AJ, Arthur, David, and Abigail. She is preceded in death by her brother, Jim, and her parents, Arthur and Kathryn.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the cancer research or animal welfare charity of your choice.
"It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step into the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."
