Mercedes Perez, age 69, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 in her home in Copperas Cove surrounded by her family. Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon, Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel in Copperas Cove with burial following at the Copperas Cove City Cemetery. The family will receive visitors an hour prior to the service.
Mercedes was born on October 11, 1945 in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Rafael and Luz Belen Serrano Rodriguez. She married Francisco Perez in 1960 and graduated from High School in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Together they owned a professional photographer studio in Puerto Rico for 30 years. After retirement, they moved to Copperas Cove to be close to family. Mercedes loved to serve her family providing many meals and spoiling her grandchildren. She also loved to travel all over the world with her children. Mercedes was a member of the First Baptist Church in Belton attending the Spanish services faithfully. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francisco; brother, Roberto Villafane and one son, Radames Perez.
Mercedes is survived by her sons, Milton Perez and wife, Mylene of Killeen, Francisco Perez of Copperas Cove; daughters, Flavia Nazario and husband, Jose, Luz Cristina Perez and Maritza Abadir and husband, Magdy all of Copperas Cove; sisters, Delia Villafane, Carmen Villafane, and Lucy Villfane; 14 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
