It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Loy Ray Coon. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and friend who left us peacefully to be in eternity with Jesus on September 30, 2024, at the age of 85. In March of 2024, Loy accepted Christ as his personal savior. What an amazing blessing such a decision is. We can only imagine the joy he is living in now.
Loy was born on July 2, 1939, in Cassville, Missouri, to Ray and Pauline Coon. He was a devoted and loving family man who dedicated his life to creating cherished memories with his loved ones.
In Loy's early years, growing up in Brea, California, he was a star athlete in both football and baseball. He graduated from Brea-Olinda High School in 1957. He continued his love of sports with his kids and was a coach and mentor to many young athletes. He was such a great role model for so many who had the privilege of knowing him.
Loy was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Pauline Coon and his brother, Jim Coon.
Loy is survived by his wife, Beverly, with whom he shared 52 amazing years of marriage; his sons, Blake (Marie) Coon, Kyle (Tina) Coon, Brent (Erica) Coon; his grandchildren, Brittani Coon, Kylie Coon, Layla Coon, and Kyle Coon as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was a guiding light in their lives, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams and instilling in them the values of kindness and perseverance. Loy had a unique ability to connect with people, and his infectious humor and warm smile would light up any room.
A celebration of Loy's life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Lampasas, Texas with a reception to follow.
For those of you who would like to share a story, but cannot make the service, you may do so by emailing a letter or a video that will be shared with the family and at the reception. (bebk@verizon.net)
Though he may no longer be with us, Loy's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love, laughter, and the countless lives he touched.
Rest in Peace Papaw, your legacy of love will endure.
