LOVEY MITCHELL CHILDS WAS BORN MAY 21, 1941 IN BEAUMONT, TEXAS TO FLOYD AND BERTHA BARNHART CHILDS. LOVEY DIED FEBRUARY 4, 2012 IN TEMPLE, TEXAS AT THE AGE OF 70. HE MARRIED SANDRA LAWSON APRIL 11, 1964 IN FORT POLK, LOUISIANA. HE WAS A MEMBER OF SAINT MARY'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH IN LAMPASAS, TEXAS. HE SERVED WITH THE US ARMY AND RETIRED AS A CSM WITH OVER 23 YEARS OF SERVICE. HIS DECORATIONS INCLUDE MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL (W/1 OAK LEAF CLUSTER, JOINT SERVICE COMMENDATION MEDAL. ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL (W/2 OAK LEAF CLUSTERS), ARMY ACHIEVEMENT MEDAL, ARMY GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL (W/SILVER, 2 LOOPS) ARMY OF OCCUPATION MEDAL (BERLIN), NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, VIETNAM SERVICE MEDAL (W/3 BRONZE SERVICE STARS, NCO PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RIBBON (NUMERAL 3) ARMY SERVICE RIBBON, OVERSEAS SERVICE RIBBON, REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM GALLANTRY CROSS UNIT CITATION (W/PALM) REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM CAMPAIGN MEDAL, EXPERT BADGE (RIFLE), SHARPSHOOTER BADGE, (PISTOL). HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE SANDRA CHILDS OF KEMPNER, TEXAS DAUGHTER DENISE BERG AND HUSBAND KELLY OF KILLEEN, TEXAS SONS NATHAN CHILDS SR. AND WIFE ADEANA OF KEMPNER, TEXAS WILLIAM CHILDS AND WIFE RENEE OF FORT BELVOIR, VIRGINIA SISTERS ERLINE MCDANIEL AND HUSBAND BUD OF BOYCE, LOUISIANA MARIE WHITE AND HUSBAND MAURICE OF CHEYENNE, WYOMING VERA LLOYD OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS JOHNIE DOWELL AND HUSBAND BYRON OF LEVELLAND, TEXAS BROTHERS LLOYD CHILDS AND WIFE ROWENA OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS JOHN CHILDS OF OCALA, FLORIDA GRANDCHILDREN NATHAN DALE CHILDS JR. SAMANTHA BERG, ASHLEY CHILDS, ANDREW BERG, DARIENNE CHILDS, MACKENZIE CHILDS, PEYTON CHILDS, NOLAN CHILDS, NICHOLAS CHILDS, ZACHARY CHILDS. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS PARENTS FLOYD AND BERTHA CHILDS, BROTHER F. C. CHILDS, JR. SERVICES WILL BE HELD 1 PM THURSDAY FEBRUARY 9, 2012 AT AT SHEPPARD FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REVEREND R. REID MORGAN III AND REVEREND REGGIE LLOYD OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT CENTRAL TEXAS STATE VETERANS CEMETERY WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS. VISITATION WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 8 FROM 6 - 8 PM. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY.
