Lonnie Charles White

Lonnie Charles White, 62, passed away on September 16, 2023, in Killeen, Texas.  He was born on January 27, 1961, in Gorman, Texas to Albert White and JoAnn (Capers) White.

A celebration of life will be held at Farris Wheel at Tara Farms, 13682 Maxdale Rd., Killeen, Texas, 76549 on November 4, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Charles grew up in Gorman, TX where he graduated from high school in 1979.  He attended Cisco Junior College then Tarleton State University where he received a bachelor's degree in education and physical education in 1984.  He later went on to Sul Ross University and completed his master's degree in education in 2000.

Charles dedicated his life to education, whether he was in the classroom or working as an administrator.  He taught and coached at numerous Texas school districts, with countless positive impacts on students and co-workers alike.  After retirement, Charles began teaching in the Texas prison system and continued to be a role model and positive influence until the end.

Charles married Christian (Fred) Frederick Hoffman in 2014 in Santa Fe, New Mexico after over 15 years of devoted partnership.  They were happily married for the remainder of Fred's life.  Charles was engaged to be married to David Glenn Freeman of Shiner, Texas on October 21, 2023.

Charles enjoyed life to the fullest.  He was an avid traveler, specifically a frequent cruiser.  He enjoyed football, car shows, cooking and loved his family fiercely.  He never met a stranger and made a huge impression on everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and JoAnn White and his sister, Elizabeth (Beth) White.  Charles is survived by nieces, Kathy (White) Prior and husband Matt Prior, Keri (Wright) Luepke and husband Scott Luepke, and Barbie (White) Grindstaff and husband Chris Grindstaff; grandnieces and nephews, Charley and Alex Prior, Noah and Emma Luepke, and Bains Young, Karen and Ashton McWhorter, Wanda and Ron Patterson, and Kenneth and Cassie Hoffman and their children, Rebecca, Kathryn and Dalton Hoffman; sister, Becki White and brother, Eddie White; fiancé, David Freeman and many other close family and friends.
