Lillie Hulene Archie

Lillie Hulene Archie, age 90 of Lampasas, Texas passed away May 7, 2019, with her family by her side. Funeral service will be held Saturday May 11, 2019 @ 3:00 pm at Sneed Funeral home.  Visitation will be Friday May 10, 2019 at Sneed Funeral home from 6 – 8 pm.   She was born to Roy & Myrtle Lee Bates, October 9, 1928 in Runnels County. She was a member of Novice Baptist Church.  Hulene graduated from Novice High School in 1946. Hulene married her first love of her life, Herman Doyle Archie, in 1947.  In the 41 years of marriage, she and her children followed him to Japan and Germany but always returned to Lampasas, Texas. Her passion was nursing and she received her LVN license from Shepherd Memorial Hospital in Burnet, Texas in January 1971 and worked at Rollins Brooks Hospital in Lampasas Texas for 20+ years.  She loved playing the piano while all her children and grandchildren gathered around to sing along. Her greatest love was her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo, slots and fishing. She was blessed, to have 2 loves of her life. She met Daryl Strelow in 1996 at Bingo and had 22 wonderful years with him. She was admired by many for her caring heart, outgoing personality and vibrant smile. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Inez Archer of Novice, TX. She is survived by her companion Daryl Strelow, her four children Doylene and Jimmy Hopson of Gatesville, TX, Dewey Archie and Luann Renner of Gatesville, TX, Lana Davidson and Justin Rhyne of Gatesville, TX, Audrey and JW Bear of Lampasas, TX, step-daughter Sherry and John Taylor, of Fairfax, Virginia, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
