Lex Lee Atnip, age 81 of Copperas Cove, passed away on the evening of July 28, 2023. Services will be scheduled on a later date, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, with Military Honors.
Lex was born on November 11, 1941, in Roswell, NM. He enlisted in US Army after high school, where he served in Vietnam and later became a Military Police Officer. After his service in the Army, he worked for Montgomery Wards, as their regional appliance repair technician. He later started his own appliance repair business, Atnip Appliance Repair, and serviced the Copperas Cove and surrounding areas for over 30 years until his retirement in 2010.
Lex was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8577 and the Military Order of the Cooties in Copperas Cove, where he dedicated his free time helping other veterans and volunteering at the Temple veteran’s hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ursula Atnip; father, Harold Atnip; brother, Terry D. Atnip; grandchildren, Cynthia Milbourn, and Benjamin Milbourn.
Lex is survived by his daughter’s, Stephanie White (Milbourn) and husband, Chad White; Connie Thomas (Milbourn) and husband, Eddie Thomas; mother, Margarette Kincheloe; sisters, Katie Atnip and Sandra Atnip; brother, Harold (Ed) Atnip; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to the Olin E. Teague Veterans Center in Temple, Texas, or any other veterans help organizations.
