Kenneth Dale Henry

Kenneth Dale Henry, 91, passed from this life on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at his home in Kerrville. Services will be Monday, July 17 at 10:30 am at Pompey Mountain Church in Mills County. Burial will follow at Duren Cemetery. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas is in charge of arrangements. Dale was born on September 16, 1931, near Mullin, Texas to Kennan Beulah Henry and Mary Mattie Hodges. He attended school in Mullin and graduated from Goldthwaite High School. He married Erma Jean Wood in Goldthwaite in 1952. Together they raised two sons, Keenan Dirk, and Kenneth Bart. After graduating from the University of Texas with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, he served two years in the United States Air Force as a first lieutenant. He then began a long career with Dowell Schlumberger, which took the family all over the world. They lived in Tripoli, Libya, Teheran, Iran, and Paris, France, as well as several parts of the United States. He spent many years running an oilfield service company from the family ranch at Mullin, where he also raised cattle. He served as city manager at both Hamilton and Lampasas, was a Mills County Commissioner, and sat on the LCRA board of development and resources. In 2002, he married Mary Ruth Sutton. They traveled extensively around the state of Texas as he campaigned for the office of Railroad Commissioner. They retired to Kerrville and spent their remaining years with their friends and neighbors at River Front Village. Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth, and his sons, Dirk and Bart. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Fairlyn McClintock Henry; granddaughter, Hope Henry Barron and husband Eric, and grandson, Kennan Guy Henry and wife Jordon, as well as great-granddaughters, Addison and Sarah Barron and Juliet Henry. He is also survived by Ruth's children, Tom Sutton, Phil Sutton, and Susan Sutton, and grandchildren, Cody Sutton, Russell Sutton, TJ Sutton, and Katie Sutton.
