Karen Glasscock

June 28, 1943 — October 23, 2021

Karen Irvine Glasscock, 78, of Lampasas, TX departed this world for heaven on October 23, 2021.  She was born June 28, 1943, at Rollins Brook Hospital in Lampasas, the daughter of Robert and Ava (Brooks) Irvine of Rumley, TX.

Karen was raised in Rumley, the second child of six children.  She attended Sunday school and church at School Creek Baptist Church and was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Lampasas.

Karen graduated from Lampasas High School, class of 1961.  Following graduation, she attended Business School at Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX.  From there she attained a position with the Texas State Comptroller's Office where she worked for over 27 years before her retirement.

She fell in love and married Billy Joe Glasscock on November 1, 1969, at First Baptist Church in Lampasas.  Bill and Karen were married for 32 years, making Austin their home, before he preceded her in death on February 14, 2002.  Receiving her in heaven alongside Bill are her parents, Robert and Ava Irvine; sister-in-law, Eileen Irvine; and nephew, Kevin Mickan.  She is survived by her sister, Norma Raye Irvine of Lampasas; brother, Michael Irvine and wife Sara of Temple, TX; brother, Charley Irvine and wife Debbie of Lampasas; sister, Charlene Mickan and husband Russell of Kempner, TX; brother, Lynn Irvine of Lampasas; two nieces, three nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

While living in Austin, Karen attended Hillcrest Baptist Church for many years.  Karen loved her Hillcrest church family and enjoyed abundant fellowship with them through the years.  Before moving back home to Lampasas in 2006, Karen transferred her church membership to First Baptist Church, Lampasas.

More than anything, Karen enjoyed spending time with family and hosting countless family get-togethers.  She also loved crocheting, needlework, sewing, and quilting.  She's made hundreds of intricate Christmas ornaments, crocheted too many afghan blankets to count, made needlepoint pictures, and pieced many beautiful quilts for her family, leaving family heirlooms that will be treasured for generations.

Close family members will remember Karen this Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Sneed Funeral Chapel.
