Juanita Verastegui

Juanita Verastegui, age 53, of Copperas Cove, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 31, 2022. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at Viss Family Funeral Home, 1614 S. FM 116 in Copperas Cove immediately followed by a graveside at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

Juanita was born on October 17, 1968, in Del Rio, Texas to Guadalupe Verastegui and Martina Prieto. She grew up in Del Rio and graduated from high school there. In 2000, she joined the United States Navy and served for 14 years. Juanita earned the rank of E5 HM2 Hospital Corpsman. During her time in the service, she served overseas in Kuwait and Japan. After her time in the service, she moved back to Del Rio and then back to Central Texas where she pursued her education. One of Juanita’s greatest joys was being a grandmother to her three grandchildren. She also enjoyed going dancing with her sisters and enjoying all her family's presence.

Juanita was preceded in death by her father, Guadalupe Verastegui; and her brother, Ricardo Verastegui and sister, Enedelia Verastegui.

Juanita is survived by her children, Neale Proveaux and wife, Nicole; Alexandra Proveaux and husband, Damian Conway; mother, Martina Verastegui; brothers, Raul Verastegui and Eduardo Verastegui; sisters, Maria Delores Vargas Verastegui, Maria Guadalupe Verastegui, Elodia Verastegui, and Leonor Verastegui; three grandchildren, Avery Proveaux, Elijah Conway, and Wesley Conway.
