John Dawson, Jr.

John Henry Dawson, Jr., age 61, of Gatesville, passed away in Temple on Friday, October 8, 2021. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 14, 2021, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

John was born on December 2, 1959, to the late John Sr. and Bonnie Hensley Dawson in Hamilton, Ohio. John graduated from New Miami High School in Ohio in 1978 and joined the United States Marines for a short time. He attended UCLA on a football scholarship and graduated as the valedictorian in 1984. After college, he started his own transportation business and was an owner/operator of his own trucking business. John enjoyed this for over 20 years. He was married to Kimberly Elizabeth Walden, and they had two children together. After she passed away, John again fell in love with Sybille Morris, and they enjoyed 7 years together before she passed away. John moved to Texas in 2015 and enjoyed his many friends in Gatesville.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

John is survived by his two daughters, Portia Rene Lynn, Bonnie Candace Nichol; sister, Sarah Fall; three brothers, David, Jeff and Greg Dawson; and several grandchildren.
