John Wilburn Chambers, Sr., 89, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020, at his residence in Lampasas.
Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Warner Cemetery in Lake Victor.
John was born on November 13, 1931, to Cecil and Rene Bell Wright Chambers in Italy, Texas. He was the second of six children. He married Irene Francis Bailey Chambers and her five children on November 13, 1963. He and Francis had one son, John Wilburn, Jr. John lost his bride of 27 years to cancer on August 19, 1990. On November 30, 1990, he married Gayle Stinnett and they have been together for 30 years.
John was a well-known painter in Lampasas and worked until he retired at the young age of 85. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football, reading, playing the Lotto, and visits with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil, Jr. Chambers, Alton Wayne Chambers; sister, Nancy; son-in-law, Tony Anderson; granddaughter, Brandy, and great-grandson, Kole.
Survivors include his wife, Gayle Chambers; sons, Johnny Chambers and wife, Valarie, Ed Hulsey, Glen Hulsey and wife, Lynda, Donnie Chambers; daughters, Sue Anderson, Sandra Hulsey; grandchildren, Bailey, Wade, Stacy, Brian, Mary, Richard, Eddie, Melissa, Michael, Donnie, Trinity, John; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rena Faye; brother, Hubert (Hughlane) as well as many nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
