Jimmy Leeman Underwood, of Lampasas, TX went home to be with his Heavenly Father on January 13, at the age of 74. Jimmy was born on October 2, 1948, in Guymon, Oklahoma to Jr. and Jerry Underwood. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gabriella Maria Underwood; his father, Leeman Underwood, Jr. and his mother Geraldine (Jerry) Underwood. Jimmy is survived by his son, Christian, and wife Anita of Ft. Bliss, TX; grandchildren, Cameron, Ariana, and Eric; his brother, Arnold Jay of Eden, TX; sisters, Terri Joyce Reed and husband Ronnie of McPherson; Jeanice Robinson and husband Don of Lampasas; his niece, Christina Harris of Killeen and her husband Clive and their children, Ashley, Alex and CJ; his nephew, Jack Underwood of Buffalo Gap; his niece, Tiffany Goracke and husband Ben of Kansas City, along with their son Reed; his (favorite) nephew, Cory Robinson and wife Brittany of Coleman, along with their children, Hunter and Kadence; his niece, Monica Stephen and husband Josh of Lampasas, along with their children, Lilian and Decil; his niece, Stephanie Simmons and husband John of Waxahachie, along with their children, Lane and Luke and his nephew, Cody Robinson and wife Laura of Denton and their children, Samuel, Caroline, Rhett and Easton. Jimmy loved and cherished all of his time spent with his family. His family will forever remember his amazing smile and his laughter. Jimmy always spoke of the Lord whom he loved dearly. Our lives have been impacted by the passing of our father, brother, uncle, and friend, but we will forever cling to the love and memories created with Jimmy. Jimmy grew up in Booker, Texas and after graduating from High School he attended Panhandle State University, participating in ROTC and later serving his country in the Army as First Lieutenant from 1974-1977. Jimmy had an extensive work career in the oil field. He loved sales and traveling. He was involved in Church and served as a Deacon and invested his time and support into the Fuse Foundation, a muscular dystrophy camp for young adults set up 18 years ago in honor of his nephew, Blake Reed. Graveside services are set for Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 1 pm in the Pioneer Cemetery, 5599 SH 36, Rising Star, TX, 76471. A meal will be provided by the local churches following the services at the Cross Plains Community Center. The center will be open to anyone traveling in early at 11 am.
