Jimmie Ray Bryson, a beloved figure to many, was born on June 18, 1939, in Lamar, Colorado. He peacefully departed this life on December 28, 2024, in Texas, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, laughter, and dedicated service to his country.
Jimmie's passion for life was evident in all he did. He graduated from Lamar High School and pursued further education through college courses before making the life-changing decision to enlist in the Air Force. Jimmie proudly served in the United States Air Force, with over 30 years of combined service, both active and in the Air Force Reserves. As a crew chief and flight engineer, he worked with significant aircraft, including the renowned B-52 and C-141 Star Lifter. His military career took him to various states and countries, experiences he cherished deeply as he devoted himself to the defense of the nation.
An animal lover at heart, Jimmie frequently shared his life with his beloved pets alongside his wife, Mary Bryson, who preceded him in death. Together, they traveled extensively, exploring new places and creating cherished memories wherever they went. Jimmie adored celebrations of all kinds and relished the joy of being surrounded by loved ones. His sly sense of humor often brought laughter to those around him and often generated a chuckle or two from Jimmie himself. He loved to sit with his family and enjoy every bite of his meal while carrying on conversations.
Jimmie is survived by his siblings Billie Colvin, Louise Downing, and Rick Bryson. Jimmie is also survived by his nephew Gary Tomblin and his wife Teresa Tomblin and their family. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who reside in various states, each carrying a piece of his loving spirit in their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo Bryson and Fern Bryson. Jimmie faced the concluding chapters of his life with grace and courage, delighting in simple pleasures such as eating ice cream and embracing the activities he loved most.
A visitation in memory of Jimmie Ray Bryson will be held on January 9, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Copperas Cove Location, 1614 S FM 116, Copperas Cove, TX 76522. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 11:00 AM at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 TX-195, Killeen, TX 76542, concluding at 12:00 PM.
Jimmie's life was woven with kindness, joy, and the richness of shared experiences. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
