Jerry Vance

March 30, 1940 — January 20, 2011

Funeral services with Masonic rites for retired 1st Sgt. Jerry Neal Vance, 70 of Copperas Cove. Burial with full military honors will follow at 3 pm, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. 

Mr. Vance passed away on Jan. 20, 2011 at a Waco hospital. He was born March 30, 1940, in Shelbina, Missouri, to David Lester Vance and Mary Elizabeth Hastings Vance. He married Shirley Jennings on May 7, 1960, in Moverly, Missouri. 

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Vance's decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal and a Good Conduct Medal Clasp with two Silver Loops.

He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and Mt. Hiram Masonic Lodge No. 595. He also enjoyed playing bingo. 

Mr. Vance was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and three sisters. 

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Copperas Cove; daughters, Renee Breisch of Harker Heights, Tina Kilpatrick and husband, Robert of Copperas Cove, Christie Anspach and husband, Bill of Killeen; nine grandchildren, William, Justin, Brandon, Bobby, Cory, Billy, Robert Jr., Bryan, and Rebecca; and three great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Isabella and Emily.
