Jean-Pierre Georges Patrick Chastagnol passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 8, 2025. JP was born on July 1, 1959, to Georges Jean Chastagnol and Marie Josephe Therese Augustine Foret in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. He had four older sisters.
JP served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England. After his mission, he worked for the church in Germany. It was there that he met the love of his life, Kathy Jean Roberts. She was stationed in Frankfurt while serving in the U.S. Army. They were married in Switzerland on February 17, 1983. JP accompanied Kathy to many assignments on many continents....but was over-the-top excited when he gained U.S. citizenship in 1985. That was one of his proudest moments! Throughout their married life, they lived in Germany, Hawaii, Kansas, Colorado, Japan, Korea, Alaska, West Point, NY, South Carolina, and Texas. They had many grand adventures together.
JP began his university studies in France, continued them in Germany, and culminated them in the United States of America. He then worked as a software designer. He worked for Alert Rental for nearly 35 years, leading the development group for decades.
JP was fun and funny and was an incredibly creative soul. He LOVED his dogs, and loved to cook, but mostly loved his wife, Kathy. He left us way too soon, leaving a void that cannot be filled.
JP is survived by his loving wife, Kathy, his dogs (Rocky and Dahlia), and a large extended family. We bid farewell to our "Happy Frenchman" until we meet again.
Per his wishes, JP will be cremated. A family memorial will be held at a later date.
