Janice Blackburn

Jan Blackburn, age 70, passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 25, 2017, in Kempner. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Scott's Funeral Home of Copperas Cove with burial following at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jan was born on November 12, 1946, to the late Ruby and Kenneth Pagan in Central City, Kentucky. Jan had two brothers and two sisters. Jan was raised in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky where she met her future husband at age 11. She rode on the back of his bicycle while he delivered newspapers.  Jan graduated from Bremen High School in 1964 and she soon married her childhood sweetheart, Vince Blackburn on August 1, 1964. Jan and Vince had two children, Sherri and Brian. Jan and Vince traveled with the U.S. Military for 20 years and were stationed all over the U.S. and Germany. They settled in Texas in 1987.

Jan was a very strong, energetic and loyal woman. She will be remembered by all for her witty, confident and spunky attitude and her dedication to her family and friends.  Jan was an experienced professional business woman and worked for many years in various positions. She also loved to read and quilt. Jan was very active with the ladies of the Cove Oasis Shrine Club and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sue Maxwell.

Jan is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Vince Blackburn; two children, Sherri Laumand and husband, Barry, Brian Blackburn and wife, Gina; brothers, Kenneth Pagan,  Eddie Pagan; sister, Nancy Young; eight grandchildren, Tara Laumand, Lindsey Laumand, Ryan Laumand, Destiny  Chavez and husband, Mat, Austin Blackburn, Trevor Blackburn, Emma Taylor, Alec Taylor; four great grandchildren, Hunter Chavez, Weston Chavez, Haley Chavez and Taylor Chavez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made online to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Shiners Children's Hospital.
