James Rudd

September 18, 1945 — February 11, 2014

James "Jim" Rudd, 68, of Copperas Cove passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in Temple. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 14, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Copperas Cove with Father Chris Downey officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at 12 Noon at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Thursday at Scott's Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.

Jim was born on September 18, 1945 to the late Lloyd and Mildred Tomberlin Rudd in Charlotte, North Carolina. Jim graduated from Richmond High School in 1963 and later received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Richmond.  He received an MBA from Central Missouri State University. He then joined the United States Army in 1970 and served for 21 years retiring as a Major. In 1994, Jim started a second career as a purchasing officer for the Copperas Cove School District. Jim enjoyed this for many years before retiring again in 2011. Jim married Jo Beth Kirkland Throm on August 28, 1982. Jim was active in the community serving as a Division Director with the Exchange Club, currently serving as the president of the Retired Teachers Association for Copperas Cove, and volunteered with the Copperas Cove Education Foundation.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lloyd Rudd.

Jim is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jo Beth Rudd of Copperas Cove; sons, James Warren Rudd, Jr., Christopher Throm and wife, Rebecca; grandsons, Max and Wyatt Throm; sister, Carolyn Carter and husband, Lloyd Al and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Copperas Cove Education Foundation, P.O. Box 943, Copperas Cove, TX 76522.

Scott’s Funeral Home of Copperas Cove is in charge of arrangements.
