James Walter Lyle

January 4, 1947 — March 1, 2019

On Friday March 1, 2019, James (Jimmy) Lyle, loving husband and father, passed away at age 72. He was born in Blanco, Texas on January 4, 1947 to Leland and Effie Lyle and spent all of his formative years in Dripping Springs. He taught real estate courses in Austin and worked for years in the banking and real estate industry. He met his wife, Marcella Ray in Austin and they married in Brady, Texas. He was living in Kempner and working at the Copperas Cove I.S.D. at the time of his death. He leaves behind his wife, Marcella, daughter, Marjorie, (who always called him “Waldo”), son, James Jr., brother, Pat(Cheryl), sister, Gladys Andrus as well as nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He loved his Copperas Cove I.S.D. family.   Jimmy was preceded in death by his father Leland, by mother, Effie, by brother, R.L. and by son, Scott.   He was an avid animal lover and spent years traveling around Texas assisting with senior dog rescue. He loved fishing, Sunday drives, Chihuahuas, children, gospel music and his Lord. He was instrumental in starting a children’s ministry at a local church and never met a stranger. His absence has created a void that will never be filled.   A visitation will be held at Sneed Funeral Chapel on Thursday March 14, 2019 at 5:00 p.m., with service to follow at 6:00 p.m. Brother Gary Edmonds officiating.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Lampasas Animal Shelter, 301 College Street, Lampasas, Texas 76550.
