FUNERAL SERVICES FOR RETIRED MAJOR JAMES ROWE COX, 72, OF COPPERAS COVE ARE SCHEDULED FOR 11AM., THURSDAY FEBRUARY 25, 2010 AT SHEPPARD CHAPEL OF MEMORIES IN COPPERAS COVE, WITH PASTOR RUSS COCHRAN OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT 1P.M., AT THE CENTRAL TEXAS STATE VETERANS CEMETERY IN KILLEEN, WITH FULL MILITARY HONORS. MR. COX PASSED AWAY FEBRUARY 20, 2010 AT HIS RESIDENCE. HE WAS BORN FEBRUARY 16, 1938 IN MARSHALL, TEXAS TO THE UNION OF JAMES HENRY COX AND VELMA ROWE. MR. COX RETIRED FROM THE UNITED STATES ARMY AFTER SERVING OVER 20 YEARS.� HE RECEIVED THE FOLLOWING MEDALS; ARMED FORCES RESERVE MEDAL, REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM CAMPAIGN MEDAL, ARMY AVIATOR BADGE, SENIOR ARMY AVIATOR BADGE, VIETNAMESE CROSS OF GALLANTRYW/SILVER STAR AND PALM, DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS, BRONZE STAR MEDAL, AIR MEDAL NUMERAL 17 W/"V" DEVICE; ARMY COMMENDATION MEDAL, PRESIDENTIAL UNIT COMMENDATION (ARMY); NATIONAL DEFENSE SERVICE MEDAL, VIETNAM SERVICE MEDAL W/SILVER STAR AND 2 BRONZE SERVICE STARS.� HE SERVED TWO TOURS IN VIETNAM. HE WAS LIFE LONG MEMBER OF THE FOLLOWING; D.A.V. 29, AMERICAN LEGION POST 582, V.F.W. POST 03393, 12TH MAN FOUNDATION, LIFE MEMBER VIETNAM HELICOPTER PILOTS ASSOCIATION, MORTGAGE BANKERS ASSOCIATION, FORT HOOD AREA BOARD OF REALTORS. HE ATTENED TEXAS A&M. GRADUATED SUL ROSS STATE UNIVERSITY. SURVIVED BY WIFE, JANE RUTH COX OF COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS DAUGHTER, JANE RENE HESSON AND HUSBAND ANDY OF KILLEEN, TEXAS SON, JAMES RANDALL COX AND WIFE BESTY OF MARSHALL, TEXAS JON RUSSELL COX AND WIFE KRIS OF COPPERAS COVE, TEXAS SIX GRANDCHILDREN, HEATHER FRINK, CHELSEA HESSON, ANDREANA HESSON, ALLISON COX, EMILY COX, AND JEREMY COX. TWO GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN BRAYDEN BECK, AND ZAINE BECK. VISITATION WILL BE WEDNESDAY EVENING AT THE FUNERAL HOME FROM 6-8P.M. IN LIEW OF FLOWERS, DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO: D.A.V.
