Jack Coats

John Thomas "Jack" Coats, 88, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Advent Health Hospital in Killeen, TX.  He was born on April 21, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Sterling Dow and Willa May (Lawrence) Coats. 

Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel Lampasas on Monday, December 30, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Kempner Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Jack grew up in Charleston, West Virginia.  He graduated from Charleston High School in 1954.  After high school, he attended West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, West Virginia where he played football his freshman year.  He then transferred to The University of Texas in Austin, Texas where he received a B.A. in Business.  Jack then began work as a real estate agent and broker for 60 years, from 1957 to 2021.  Beginning his career with Bill Lawrence Realty working with his mom, dad, and uncle.  He then founded Jack Coats Realtors finishing the last few years with Remax Associates of Dallas.  Jack was a member of Northwest Bible Church, Grace Message with Dr. Andrew Farley (formerly Exchanged Life Ministries).

Jack married Rosemary Mills in 1958, in Dallas, Texas.  They were happily married for 66 years.  Jack was a member of the ATO fraternity.  He enjoyed studying the Bible, fishing, working his land, family vacations at South Padre Island, and loving his family.  He also received numerous awards including D Magazine Best Realtor and Top Producer several times as well as Remax Association of Dallas Platinum Award.  He was also inducted into the Remax Hall of Fame.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Willa May and Sterling.

Survivors include his wife Rosemary of Kempner, Texas; his daughter, Cindi Coats of Plano, Texas; his son, Jeffery (Kenna) Coats of McKinney, Texas; his grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Zackary) Switalski, Kristyna Coats, Kasey Coats, and Karaline Coats; his great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Grace Message with Dr. Andrew Farley, PO Box 87, Bridgeville, PA, 15017.
